The Role:
The Production Manager is responsible for leading safe, efficient and high-quality manufacturing operations at JFD's Cape Town facility. Overseeing multiple product lines from order receipt through to delivery to stock, the role leads a multi-disciplinary team to ensure products are delivered in line with JFD's production strategy, while meeting safety, quality, cost, schedule and compliance targets.
What you'll be doing:
- Lead the Production department, ensuring compliance with strategy, governance, quality standards, regulatory requirements, budgets and resource planning.
- Manage the production team, coordinating workflow, materials and resources to achieve schedule, cost and performance targets while providing technical guidance and support.
- Ensure health, safety, environmental and security objectives are achieved, maintaining compliance with the South African OHS Act and GMR 2.1 requirements.
- Support production planning and work order management through ERP and document control systems, ensuring accurate documentation, traceability, certification and cost control.
- Collaborate with Engineering to drive efficient, cost-effective manufacturing solutions and develop cost, time and resource plans (CTRs) and capital expenditure proposals.
- Recruit, develop and manage a high-performing workshop team through training, mentoring, performance reviews and regular feedback.
- Oversee facility and equipment maintenance activities and maintain high standards of housekeeping.
What we're looking for:
- A recognised engineering qualification in a relevant technical discipline (minimum NQF Level 6) or equivalent industry experience.
- Eligibility to be appointed as the Competent Person under GMR 2.1 and the South African Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing technical teams within a manufacturing, production or engineering environment.
- Strong communication skills in both English and Afrikaans, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels.
- Knowledge of diving equipment and life support systems, together with an understanding of quality assurance, risk management and health & safety requirements.
- Experience using ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to develop and deliver operational strategies, budgets and resource plans.
