Technician - Mechanical

The Role:
The Technician - Mechanical is responsible for the manufacturing, assembly and service of the company’s products as directed by the senior team.
They will be required to instruct & delegate to the direct reports ensuring that products conform, QA processes and safety is key and adhered too, and individuals are trained on the appropriate product in order to deliver our products on time and in full.
Key Duties and responsibilities:
- Supervision and training of Trainee/Assistant Technicians.
- Signing off controlled company documentation.
- Planning workloads and delegating tasks.
- Carries out all operational activities in a safe and reliable manner.
- Participate in the movement of materials through workshop from start to completion.
- Development of team’s skills and competencies.
- Effectively communicate with others, seek clarification where necessary, and respond to feedback.
- Organise and keep clean workshop areas.
- Performing customer service functions, including interacting with customers and answering questions
- Working with Engineers to keep products up to date and helping future proofing of products.
* A flexible approach to working will be required, as there may be some working away from base as projects require.
Key skills, knowledge and experience:
- A recognised apprenticeship or training program in a technical discipline to a minimum of a SVQ qualification (or equivalent nationally recognised qualification) or have equivalent industry experience in a similar role.
- Basic supervisory skills
- Demonstrable skills in a mechanical discipline.
- Experience in lifting operations, valid certification for banksman/slinging advantageous.
- Knowledge of Quality Assurance and Health and Safety within the work environment.
- Proven track record in a manufacturing or service environment.
- Knowledge of diving equipment would be advantageous.
*This position is within the defence sector therefore, you will need to be able to pass security clearance for this role.
